My dear brother

Who do you think is sitting at the table in the H.Q. Mess playing cards at this minute? Lt. Col. H Rous Cullin! He is staying with us at present on a sort of cook's tour & will go into the trenches with us apparently though probably not very far. Our Colonel who is nothing if not hospitable asked him into our crowded quarters as he appeared to be so very uncomfortable where he was. It is curious but it is quite pleasant to see him by virtue of old associations.

I wish some of the authorities at Work Point or Shorncliffe could see our battle training here. I think that their eyes would be opened as wide as our visitors & that they wd be equally astonished to find how well
