so far I have crashed only one machine and I must tell you about it. Two weeks ago I started to fly to Long Branch, near Toronto. About an hour out of Camp Borden the engine developed a spiteful disposition so I had to come down . I landed safely in a large field not far south of the town of Aurora about 20 miles north of Toronto. After locating the trouble, which was in the magento, I had to telephone to the squadron office and tell them where I was and what was wrong. They sent out mechanics in a motor and they fixed the machine. That night we stayed at a farm house nearby. The next morning I started to take off but my propellor hit an unseen hump in the field and broke.
