Dearest Mother,

I have just returned form two weeks' leave in England and much to my disgust found on my return a letter I wrote you immediately prior to my departure but had failed to post. I am awfully sorry that such should have happened, especially as I told you I was going on leave and that I intended to devote my whole time to forgetting about the war and might not write you during that period. I
