In the Field March 15, 1918

Dearest Mother: -

I know it is about two weeks since I last wrote but I am afraid it was unavoidable since the first of the month we have moved by motor transport for a considerable distance. Owing to a breakdown or some similar mishap our kit did not overtake us for about ten days so there was no opportunity of doing anything but work - and work we did.

We seem to have moved into a period of fine weather - more like May than March and the consequence is that all the chaps are beginning to long for a rainy day wherein to rest. You see - since
