goods here, and what with my uniforms expect won't be much of the $200 left. One pair of field boots, made to order by Dack is costing me $25.00. These of course are a well-finished, serviceable boot with high tops and of the best quality. Please don't think that I am being extravagant Mother, dear, for I am only saving money by getting these things here and they are necessary to an officer's kit.

I have not seen Uncle Fred or Aunt Jessie yet as I stayed at the hotel all yesterday afternoon, while the others went to the Exhibition. I shall have to wait till I come back from Borden before I see it, for I will go to Uncle Fred's this afternoon and leave for Borden at 9:15 a.m. tomorrow.

Aunt Mary had not yet returned to the Bowen's when I left Deseronto so I am afraid I won't see her again before going over the "pond".

By the way, don't worry about the "subs" getting us. They take jolly good care of their troopships. I don't think they have lost any from Canada yet. Destroyers convoy them all the way across now. Among the boys going over this trip are Tommy Drew-Brook my little friend and
