Warrant and Complaint for an Indictable Offence. The information and complaint of C.Todd of taken this twenty-third day of March in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty before the undersigned, one of Her Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said Province, who saith one Ah Maw ( a chinese) sentenced at the Assize Court, James bay in the city of Victoria aforesaid held on Monday the second day of June 1879 to eighteen months imprisonment with hard labor did on the twenty-third day of February 1880 unlawfully and feloniously break gaol by escaping from the chain gang while working at the school reserve in the City of Victoria aforesaid and I charge the said Ah Maw with unlawfully and feloniously breaking gaol at the time and place aforesaid contrary to the Form of Statute in such case made and provided. The prisoner was found guilty of larceny. Sworn before me the day and year above mentioned at Victoria in the said province of British Columbia.
