Coroner Ger K McNaughton MD John Ernest Spicer, I am the Boss at No 5 mine I work for the Canadian Collieries (Dunsmuir) Co Ld I recoled Jany 24th 1919 I received a message that a man was injured at about 10.10 PM. I went down the slope directly and found a man lying on his back in the mine car and inquired as to the nature of the injury and was informed he was hurt in the back I took his name and age was informed it was Mah Ling 45 years of age I the saw him Started up the slope when Iproceeded to where the accident occurred along with James Brown who showed me the piece of rock and coal that had fallen upon him Upon examination of the place where the fall came from when Isaw it. was a step from which the rock and coal had liberated itself suddenly. Ithen proceeded up the slope overtaking the injured man.
