Sep 21st. Today we ought to have gone for our mail but being very wet we stay in camp; but go out in afternoon for a deer as wet weather is the best time for deer-stalking and get a fine buck.

Sep 22. Two men for mail to Union City. I stay and attend to the business around camp; very wet and stormy, the torrid carries away their sail twice and comes very near capsizing their boat.

Sep 23td. Rains hard all day; so fix up a cooking shed and make things ship shape around camp.

Sept 24th. Showery today are busy cutting tent poles and pins for all the hands who are expected out every day now; catch some grasshoppers which we use for bait for trout and catch some weighing 5 lbs.
