Sep 21st. Today we ought to be have gone for our mail but being very wet we stay in camp; but go out in afternoon for a deer as wet weather is the best time for deer-stalking and get a fine buck.

Sep 22. Two men for mail to Union City. I stay and attend to the business around camp; very wet and stormy, the [?] carries away their sail twice and comes very near capsizing their boat.
