Aug 3rd. Go back to second lake where we have to await the packers; there will be no more chaining at present so are asked to pack until we get lots of provisions in to the lake.

Aug 4th. Go to Buttles with another load of provisions. Our boss and two axemen are away in the mountains so the other axeman is trying his hand at building a canoe, the cook who is not very busy at present is helping him. We stay at Buttles all day.

Aug 5th. Go to other lake get very wet as it
