Aug 1st. Moved camp down to Battles Lake & stayed over night back to second lake next day; this Battles lake is a lovely lake some 25 miles long by 1 to 1 1/2 miles wide, as grazing or agricultural land around it being enclosed by mountains about 3000 ft high; our survey line crosses about 7 miles from its outlet.
