Line 1: Line 1:
Officers granted permission to proceed to the Continent on sick or other leave are hereby warned that they are to be exceedingly cautious and reticent in their conversation with persons, male and female, whom they may meet in the course of their stay at health resorts.  Such places are known to abound with alien-enemies, and their agents, some of whom pass as British subjects, or as subjects of allied or neutral countries.  These persons seek for information on naval and military matters, both as regards actual operations in progress and also with respect to war preparations in this country.
