August 3.--French retake Fleury, and make progress towards Thiaumont; 1,750 prisoners to date. British gains north of Bazentin-le-Petit. Russians penetrate into Rudka-Mirynska, 20 miles east of Kovel. Belgians occupy Ujiji on Lake Tanganyika. Casement hanged.

August 4.--Germans retake Fleury, but lose it again. British gain ground west of Pozieres. General Sakharoff progresses on the Sereth and Graberko, south of Brody. enemy regains Rhudka Mirynska. Turkish attack east of Suez Canal near Romani defeated ; 2,500 prisoners taken.

August 5.--British advance north and west of Pozieres ; German main second line system catted on a front of over 2,000 yards. General Sakharoff's progress west of Brody ; 3,000 prisoners taken. British pursuit in Suez Canal area continues for 18 miles ; a strong rearguard position carried.

August 6.--Great Italian Offensive on the Isonzo ; several lines of entrenchments carried in the Monialcone sector and nearly the whole of Hill 85 captured ; 3,600 prisoners taken. Further British progress at Pozieres towards Martinpuich. General Sakharoff's further progress south of Brody.
