Get a run down to Rue Moutonfor my fusil boche- Ada's letter arrives while I am having dinner at the Oliviers - Get an hour off in the evening which spend 'at home' with Sergt Hewitt. - Minnie & Berthe being instructors in French. Heavy artillery fire near Neuve Eglise & Mitrailleuse the previous night - Hear that there are many Canadian wounded. - the celebration Ada writes about must have been for the trenches taken at Loos- but was quite too premature. Canadian Front - Enemy artillery , m.g. &rifle fire brisker than usual. 25 4 mm gun salvos fired at our support trenches & Hill 63. Front trenches intermittently shelled. Our artillery opened fire on 'muskrat mound' (N36 a.5.5) II Bavarian Corps was relieved at Messines 26th Sept. Normal disposition of 5th Bav. Regt. is one batt. in front line - one
