Your welcome letter of Dec 6th written from San Jose reached me tonight, also the Xmas number of "Life" which Mother so kindly sent. It seems a good number and will be much enjoyed, have only had a hurried look at it so far.

I have been much interested in letters, from both of you, hearing of your adventures in Cal; taking it on the whole you both seem to be having a fair time of it in a quiet way. I hope you're not trying both of you to cut down expenses too much, have a "fling" while you're at it, for goodness sakes and be d--d to the expense, we can always turn a penny on part of Grouse Nets if we get hard up!

Well I think this will be the last letter that you will get from me written from Germany, we are
