Sat. 1915 Feb. 6. "Barenfels" While in bed about 8 this morning was arrested & brought to Dresden & locked up in the Schiess - gasse" with about 24 other Britishers white & coloured. Most of these had been in 3 or 4 days before my arrival.

Feb. 8. Monday. All of us Britishers were removed from the jail Sch. Gasse at about 6 a.m. & brought to "Ruhleben" near Spandau (Berlin) where we arrived in slush & snow about 2.30 & were shown to our quarters. I am in "Barrack" or Stall No 9 - loft, East end, in which about 103 men live. Other end of loft is of equal size, and there are 24 boxes down stairs. In each box there are 6 men - making 162 down stairs & say 200 in loft = 360 in all. (Approx.)
