COLUMN 8. - In many cases, e.g., such as road-mending, it may not be possible to give an exact measure of the work done. Some indication should, however, always be given, e.g., the number of tons of metal, or lorry loads dumped or used, or the estimated tonnage of timber felled or stacked. In case of digging, the estimated number of c.f. excavated should be given. The Officer i/c working party will usually be able to obtain figures from the Roads Officer, Forest Officer, or other representative of the "Employer." In any case an effort should be made to give a figure to enable one day's work, or one gang's work, to be compared with another.
