The country is awful, nothing but chalets, trenches, shell holes, dugouts & a mass of ruins & entanglements for miles & miles. We saw plenty of Bosch shells bursting & Air fighter. On our way back we stopped at SCHRAMM barracks ARRAS where I saw the C.S.M. Dugdale of A Coy 13th KRR who was with poor Dowe when he was killed. He was 12 yards in front of his Coy when a shell burst near him right in MONCHY village. He put up a splendid fight & he is burried alright. Wilcocks vows he will |
