Jan 17th Three inches of snow on ground. Motored with Webb to see Capt Slade at Wanquetin - He was at Bernville paying out - so did not see him. Then back to Avesnes & had lunch at the Officers Club where Lieut Sykes joined us. Then Skyes & myself did some shopping - I bought a wrist watch for mother gave 214 Frs for it - then I caught a motor lorry back snowing all the time, I also called on Capt Thomas & Lieut Jackson R.C.A. A very cold snowy day.

Jan 18th Nothing much doing. Snowing all day.

Jan 19th Lot of snow on ground - Town Mayor came out & took dinner with us. We also both went to Avesnes. I came back by way of Beaufort & had lunch at Head Quarters. Freezing at night.
