Oct 17- to Beaudricourt for an exposition. No officer turned up in afternoon to Liencourt for exposition on road making. Capt Bowen R.E. & a French Lieut. Very dark - the flashes from the distant artillery very vivid like summer lightning; no sound of firing as the wind was in the wrong direction.

Oct 25th To Berlencourt with Corporal Malin to insure various complaints about wood cutting & ditch digging also to arrange about drain pipes (Tugaux). In the afternoon on a bicycle to Le Cauroy Chateau to enquire about wood. We are to go & meet the Count next Wed (N.B. this visit never came off). Then to Liencourt & Grand Battencourt & the Coy F.A. On the way home saw an English aeroplane which could not start. Spent a very pleasant evening on the Frevent - Estee Wamin Road.

Oct 29th Sun On the roads - returned & found a grand row in the village - M & Mme Gavoury threw stones & slops at our men (cantommies.) The good lady
