Friend Fred Just a few lines to let you know I am still in the Land of the Living. Still keeping clear of the Germans Shells. Well Fred Harry Brinley is over in Blighty with a bad knee and Ellis just came out of the Hospital was reported in the Casualty List on the News papers as Died of Wounds , but he is all safe and sound. all the Rest of the Barkerville Boys in the 54th are all in the best of health. I heard jim Murphy died of Wounds. Fred I only wish it was finished and Back in the old Town i have been in Lots of mud in Barkerville but nothing to touch the Mud in the Trenches I hear the 172nd
