J.P. thinks it is a wonderful letter I think J.P taste in letters is like his taste in books. very poor. nothing in Ms letter to speak of But F.M is asking J.P to write says it does not cost you any thing to write. It is not so hard a Job as a rule in Blighty but it is often a big job in France. I cant see at all well in the dark since I got hit & another strange thing is befor I was hurt all food was too salty now I have to salt every thing my self. it is so dark out I cant go back to YMCA hut where I wrote this afternoon & must use a old pen I have found in this sleeping hut. That is one advantage of Blighty over France you have a good place to sleep in. Often on the boards as I am now but we are supposed to get a tick of straw I expect we shall have it in a day or two I note what you say re Swamp River & thank you for your loyality & friendship in thinking of me I very much hope you will be able to make that shipment of ore & that it will be a success. You certainly deserve a substantial reward for your consistant efforts to open up something worth while in the district
