& neither have they done any useful work it is a rotten shame & the only good it does is that it swells the number on paper of soldiers sent over seas by Canada I saw J. Peterson at Epsom he had been sent there to do some little Job, he says it was too small for him. any way he was there 4 months doing (he told me) nothing, as far as i can find out from him he has been at that most all the time since he came over. he has a lot of stories to tell of nights feeds in the ordarlie room, It is a common thing that, usually some useless [pvet] steals the mens rations out of the kitchen with the conevance of the mess Segt & with a very small bought adation makes a feed. It would take a lot of that to win this war. J.P. told me to day he has been marked for Canada. He talks nice of going as a sailor to help out. But if he had been keen to help, why this long spell of nothing done. However man must Judge for him self if he is doing his bit. i tell you these things in case I dont come back as I want you to know the plain truth as I see it; & when we get back By We I mean the army
