I know it is a very long time since I wrote & it makes it worse because I do appreciate your letters so much. i was waiting to write you a long letter but have not been able to do that, so will send a short letter now. We have left the Somme 9 we must no say when we are at a place but can tell when we have left it) & are now on a very Quiet front hardly any war at all & less for us as we have never been closer that 1/2 mile from the front line As a rule the worst place is from that distance to 2 miles behind the front line but here so little is doing that that little is all used on the Front.
