to wear Gass helmets; once a lot of bear shells were fired at us & fell very close but only 3 exploded & they were to windward of us. I have seen some pieces of high E. shell that were the most horrible weapon you could think of things spear shaped 10 in long 2½ wide & with Jagged edges 1¼ inches more; fit to cut a man in two & then do the same thing to two more men. But I must stop, too long letters may be put in wast paper box by Censor as you know we can only write certain things so it is not possible to write a good continous letter.
