Dear Fred J. Tregillus

Your long & very interesting letter including the extracts from Van. Papers. Dated June 9th reached me yesterday. It was sent on from Eastbourne same day as it reached there. But owing to the war I was not on hand to get it at once when it arrived at my units P.O. I hope indeed that R.T. Ward will succeed in Breaking up that gang of Rollers who I firmly belive are led by Tolmie who I dont doubt get the Captains share of the loot. If the gent you speak of is proved guilty of altering or allowing others to do so enters in the Books a term behind Bass would not be too much & might make others more careful. If the election that is to be held in Aug or Sept is for the Dom. I should if I have a chance support the Govt. If it is Provincal (as we have heard here) I shall if I am dead, get up from my grave as a last Duty & vote against the Govt. I would strongly urge on any liberal candidate that he try & get an inquiry into the conduct of the Deputy Minister of mines & his records.

Soon after Xmas I wrote to Walton & Clark c/o Harper sent photos at same time. Never heard if they got them would you ask Tom Nicol if he remembers any thing of them & if they got those Photos & letter I did not expect they would get them untill spring. They may have written to me & I failed to get letter. I am wondering if they have got my poney. I hope so as they are OK & will use her right & if with them I know no one is missuseing her. Bye the way that old Beast Col. McGregor never paid me for her when I at great inconvenience let him have her to go to Keithley. I wrote him once or twice.
