was not there either at 3 am or 730 am when we realy did leave. Though at Church which I & Murphy attended they spent a lot of time praying for the King & his army & navy & especially for a long list of men whose names were read off.

At South Fort George a booster met me & told me he had been sent by Cook to take us over to Prince & that Cook was waiting to see me. I asked him if he had any writing & he had none so I told him to go & tell Cook to wait. I soon found out after I had got the boys stowed away in South that the man was a fraud. Luckly I had wit enough to refuse to take his word. I had several little jobs like that put up on me & did not fall for any of them. Soon I shall think I am confedent to travell alone if I keep out of these shysters hands.
