they (the men of Pioneer Batt) say they are to be in Eng Nov 3rd & are to be used as a construction gang to dig trenches & build bridges & make the timbers etc for those bridges. I know a number, & of those I know the majority are pretty old booze fighters but on the whole they are a big husky looking lot & I dont doubt will be very usefull. At no point did a parson show any interest in us. Why was that? I told Elliot at Quesnell we were to pull out at 3 a.m. but he
