Dear Mr Tregillus
 
Just a few lines in answer to your welcome letter received last Thursday whith Joel Stevens, my I was sorry to hear of poor Old Billy Hodgkinson's death I was looking forward to playing crib with him when returned I am in fact both Billy and myself and son are expecting to start any day now we are both tired of being here we are coming back to make money everbody in Barkerville seems to be making money now. What do you think we have Motor Lorries taking people to work now as the Tubes are closed on Strike but I guess you have read about it in the papers I am sending Joel the papers so you ask him to lend them to you. I was pleased to hear one of the Barkerville Boys came back again fancy him leaving his wife in Scotland I wouldn't stop here No I am coming
