has been sent back to Canada Kit Carson will be going back as soon as he gets over his operation I got hurt at Convent Lane but on the left leg and the bone fracture but didn't go to the Hospital as it did not seem to bother me much at the time, so stick it out-till we come from the Somme (we were in there two months) and the hottest wettest and muddiest two months that Ive ever put in in my life _ and lousy oh my Lord, George Shaw was never half as bad at any time. I don't know how they will ever get rid of the rats in France + Belgium you get them everywhere in the trenches dugouts + rest camps, there are lots of cats too, but they seem to get on very well together and show no animosity. Have enclosed a post card showing the Basilica of Notre Dame de Brebieres at Albert, from what I could see of it, (of course its pretty well shattered now) it was a most beautiful place the main entrance is not so badly dam-aged, the beautiful mosaic work is cracked and is shattered in places but sufficient to show the beauty of the place, its left impossible to get inside as there is nothing but a mass of stone bricks + morter.
