Somewhere in France

Here it is almost xmas and there is twice as much mud as there was a little while ago. I had a letter from Vernon which was a great surprise and Ellen and Lil Campbell sent a couple of xmas boxes which we appreciate very much.

We are having a rest now. I think they are going to put the CMRs in a different division or make them into straight infantry. I don't care very much what they will do with them. I will soon be out of it. My friend and I expected to be in London for xmas but the papers have been delayed for some reason or other.

I have quite a cold now but I am taking all kinds of stuff for it and I am staying out of the mud as much as possible. So you need not worry Mother, I also had the doctor examine me and I have my chest rubbed every night.
