write to her next - she seems to have had bad luck -- or perhaps as you say it was for the best, but give no reason. Once you spoke of sending a few snap shots - which also did not arrive - if you still have some and have no time to write just throw two or three in an envelope and mark it "Photos only" you know the old stunt, it's quick and sure to please. You remember Eleanor's husband - Jack Bright. he has been invalided home, for good I think -- his tummy and nerves are all to blazes; - my brother is still in England and the other one still in Norway - I think the old mother is pleased - she's getting pretty old now but I think still pretty active. I should certainly love to be out there helping you with the garden, but as regards gardening I'm afraid I'm as handy as the proverbial "cow with the musket" - it's my very weakest spot, gardening and politics -- never took any interest in either, although I'm very fond of
