patrol craft was practically on one before you could see her. I only managed to escape one of our large patrols ramming us, by making the boat sink like a stone and we hit bottom at 190 feet with an awful crash, then they tried to drop bombs on us for about an hour, they loosed off 15 altogether of 100 lbs T.N.T. Luckily though none of them went off close enough to do any material damage to us, we got several small leaks and some gauges broken. I saw her captain yesterday, he nearly had a fit when I told him it was us, he was very angry, too, as he reported us as a German sunk by him. I am afraid that the Admiral will not let us go again as he got a hit scored, knowing that we were on that [illegible], and I could not get my report through and we were initially made to dive hurriedly when trying to rendesvouz. On returning I got fired on by one of our T.B.Ds but managed to dive before he hit me. I thought the [illegible] would not see me as I was close]
