Have you read a book called Ruggles of Red Gap?  I am reading it now and simply roaring with laughter when ever I do.  It came out in the Saturday Eve. Post.  If you haven't do, as it is priceless.  I am also reading a childs history of the world B.C. which I find most instructive and I find how little I know about it.
