To McKinley seriously wounded- Some rain Twisted my ankle coming home by stepping on a Mills Grenade but the fall saved my hip from a shell burst.-596 prisoners & 12 others on this Bde pont- Cavalry up. Good mail-Saw anobservn. Balloon burnt.

16' Sept. Sayed in Bde reserve till 4 pm wen we moved out to Buckfields(Albert) where we recd a royal welcome. The C.O. spoke to me very kindly.( the orders to go out were a great relief to the Bn because there were rumours that the remains of our[Scle] were to be made into a composite Bn & thrown into the attack. They were a great relief
