My dear brother

A reinoculation of typhoid gave me an excuse to say in bed this morning for a few hours and I quite enjoyed it.  It is a beautiful day, a trifle warm perhaps.  My tent is pitched on clean grass and there are gardens and trees nearby to shelter singing birds.  The butterflies are more varied and marvellously beautiful than I remember to have seen them before. (Always excepting the wonderful carpet of swallowtails on the sand of Sooke River).

I have spent my time in bed reading, when not interrupted by a black kitten and a fox terrier pup, the closing chapters of that wonderful book "Sonia." Everyone has read it of course and I expect that everyone is affected differently by it.

Of this I am sure, that we ought to

Leave is far, far away and in fact for officers it has stopped altogether. With much love your ever Arthur. I don't think I thanked you for last cake with the joke socks - tell Nell I have received two tins with chocolate ginger & socks.

Can you get enclosed letter to Miss A.E. Robertson whoever she is. Read it. There may be a clue.
