Your little description of Laurie + Cadboro Bay - well, I don't know what to say about them.  On top of these comes Leffie's sketch of Ince Garden and the result is a heartache though not of a kind that one would rather be without.  I am becoming a professional "back line soldier " but I hope I am of some use.  I am not sure if I sent you or Nell the enclosed photo; if it was you then give this one to her unless she has one.

So you are getting to be a political "big muck-a-muck."  Well I am glad that they have the grace to recognize you + trust that it will end in nothing worse than a judgeship .  It means a good deal to Fowkes but your duty seems to lie that way.

My dear brother

I have your letter on Japanese paper - the letter the paper and the Japanese pictures - tous les frais - are delightful.
