was buried up to the neck in stones & dirt but a piece of a galvanized iron kept the shock & weight off him. My poor little batman though quite untouched was hopelessly shaken. In the part I was sleeping in there is a door at each end - one door was blown by another shell right from his fastenings bang up against the other & one officer slept through it all. I had just got out to go on duty but my good fortune pursued me.

Before beginning work I decided to go to the latrine which is right at the entrance but you may be sure that I wasted no time - I had just got in again
