+ | I won't be an altogether hopelessly backwards in the way of Victoria's happenings - It is not long ago since I saw Arthur, but unfortunately didn't have an opportunity of chatting with him alone. It is unnecessary to say that he is "doing his bit" in more ways than one, because in this game one is not exactly able to pick & choose his way or those who are to accompany him along it, as you can readily believe - Joe Bridgman, who is now acting Q.M. of the Bn is not more than ½ hr. away from here & I had him down to dinner at our Mess about a wk. ago. He is as fit as a proverbial "fiddle" & appeared to be bearing up well under the strain of the multitudinous duties of a Bn Q.M. undertaken for the 1st time on short notice - They may become far more arduous before long - Morkill I have seen quite often.
