I have had a visit lately from E.C. Hart (of 88th) who now has a Co. & a M.C. and from Lukin Johnston who has just been posted to Hart's Co - He has just come over from England - Young Gordon Tupper whom I saw a good deal of at Le Touquet has also got a Co & M.C.

My seniority amongst officers actually in the trenches with the Bn has advanced so rapidly that I may get my leave about Christmas, probably on Xmas Day.

Leave is such a slippery thing however that no one counts on it until he has actually got to England for many have been recalled as many as twice even after they have started. I sincerely hope that all will go well with you at Christmas & with all at Pentrelew
