I've just come back from ten days leave and much to my disgust found on my table a letter I wrote you just before leaving and thought I had posted. In fact I was quite sure of having posted it and never gave it a thought while away. Anyway, in it I told you I expected to leave for home very soon, but I am not listed for the Megantic which sails with a number of Canadians on the 28th of this month. I spent my leave in the seaside resort of Southend-on-Sea, an hour out of London and just across the Thames estuary from this place. Two very nice girls I
