RFC Per Ardua Ad Astra
when a loud screech made me flop flat to wait for the ensuing "bang" and I would stand up again to find the Tommies "carrying on" with no concern whatever. On the whole our visit was interesting and instructive though the sights and smells were not by any means of the highest order. We all brought back a small souvenir or two of captured Hun war materials. I have some shrapnel bullets and a burnt out nose-cap of a shell which burst about fifty yards away and "put the wind up" a couple of up who happened to be nearest. There is no news of scrapping as I've done only a few jobs since coming
