I have now received nine of your letters in all and I can't understand why there are not more as Cox & Co were aware of my whereabouts always and the Army P.O. should have been able to find me through the War Office records. Letter No. 2.
In the Field January 22, 1918
Dearest Mother
Five of your letters reached me all together, forwarded from Cox's just a few days ago. It certainly was good to hear from you again. I have now received nine of your letters in all and I can't understand why there are not more as Cox & Co were aware of my whereabouts always and the Army P.O. should have been able to find me through the War Office records. The parcel has not yet arrived but I am expecting it every day. It has probably been following me from place to place in England. In accordance with your wishes
