told me in the prisoner's presence that the silk had been in possession since October last and that he was in the habit of going about collecting rags and that he picked up the outside a blacksmith shop; I cautioned Ah Soo and told him the charge.
I understand through the interpreter that by the Chinese, October is meant about three months ago.
I suppose by the expression made by the prisoner "several months" the Chinese month of October is meant.
