</p><p>Every now and then I went to the beach to look out for the [Julia] and tonight I feel extremely anxious as they have not returned. I have left a lighted lantern at the boathouse. Perhaps this bad weather has detained them at Gibbs. P [Wickmore] and wife came back from [Thetus] this eve and brought a note from [Muir]

Sat. 2nd Jan. Kept a sharp lookout all a.m. for the boat. Wind S.E. by S. Came round to 5 when at last we saw the the 'Julia' going fr. [Sitwall] to Chemainus and about 11 or 12 it came round [Blue] Point homeward [as] and on board were Percy, Harvey, [Lou], [Porter] and [Eudor]. It appears that yesterday they want to [unintelligible] or [work] the [laneway]. Mr. [unintelligible]
[Porter] Alice T. and [Eudor] to [Sitwall].
[E  P] [Eudor] and [Sitwall] stayed here tonight. I was up late at study. After 2 [Robbin] called me as [Eldy] [Conway] had a difficulty in breathing. He had to get up and sit at the dining room

</p><p>Sunday 3 [9] a.m.  Service at 11.
Present. L. P. DM, [Harvey], [S?? Porter?], [Eudor], [Chanuon], [H. Sitwell], [Had??] and [Euha??] [Wheakwatalou?], [Holeralauno?] [??] wife [?] about 16. Text [E??] [city] - no [interpreter]. In P. in [Deena] went back to [?] [Chaminos] to [Nan?].  [Leo.] P &amp; [Eudor] to [Ch. P.) &amp; [Hanson] took them over in the Julia - this am. Robbie &amp; [Eloway] went in the 'Mary' to Thetis. [??] then went with them to [shorthand?] [Eloway] stayed there [w??] &amp; R came here - H. [Sitwell] then went home - The 'Julia' soon afterwards arrived. This day was bright &amp; mild.
I sent letters to post by [Percy] to [Baull?] with [unintelligible] Chq. $125.00 to[Miss] [Clarke] [&amp;] 3 letters I think-
