(In the Trenches)( 21st June 1917) Dear Friend Fred I am still alive and kicking and in the Best of health. With the shells playing Hell while I am writing this letter to you. I am just 2 weeks Back from Scotland after having 10 days leave it was a great change Fred. to see your Mother and sisters after the great Life in the Trenches. Well Fred I did not get the DCM as I wrote and told you about but got the Military Medal as there was know officer with me to recommend the Deed that was done. Never mind Fred I will try and have better luck the next time we are having Fine weather in France
