THE BIVOUAC BOTANIST.

Written in billets while on Active Service, August, 1915.

By Jack A. Gunn. Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders.

Died of wounds received in action, 13th November, 1916.

"A gift he had, a royal gift he gave, A gift that meant to him the summer's sun, Youth's glorious hopes, the lover's ecstasy, Life's fair endeavour, scarcely yet begun! A gift he had, a royal gift he have, Proud to exchange it for a soldier's grave!"
