& found the after damp so strong that it prevented us going any further & in returning a few steps back we found the body of a Chinaman, a party of men coming down at the min ecarried the body up the slope. We then re- turned to the surface until some stoppings in the slope were put in that had been driven out by the explosion. Some time in the afternoon, I went down again accompanied by Mr. Prior Hank Little & the other men. we went along the level and got up Homes heading as far as where we found the body of Campbell We carried the body down the heading & out to the slope. Going up the heading we tried to ascertain in which direction the explosion had come & found that it must have come from inside No. 10 level. After remaining on the surface for some time I was proceeding down the slope again when it was re- -ported to me that the body of a Chinaman had been found. On Friday I was proceeding down the mine when it was reported that the body of a Chinaman had been found. Mr. Prior Robert Leott & some others were in the mine Scott said he had found three Chinamen.
