in the right direction for a gas attack by the enemy those "gasperators" which are like square cornered haversacks have always waking or sleeping to be worn under the chin - However they are splendidly efficient - Just now I spent practically the whole 24 hours below ground by candlelight & of that time I am often on duty for 15-17 hours at a stretch -
There is quite a lot of writing & quite a bit of reading of almost illegible writing on this sort of paper but written with a hard pencil and by the flickering light of a poor candle -
The German proclamation I enclose was brought in by the scouts tonight - found I believe within our own lines in a hole in the ground. It seems to be of a Socialist nature - Anyhow keep it unless I ask you for it. Fritz is great on trench mortars or TM's as they are
